Michael Jordan debuted this second colorway of the iconic silhouette nicknamed the Chicago 1s during his rookie season in 1985. The Air Jordan I was the first shoe to be worn in the NBA with multiple colors.
Soon after the release of the shoe, David Stern (the Commissioner of the NBA at the time), banned the shoe because of the bright colors (most players wore all white shoes at the time). Every time Michael stepped on the court with a pair he would have to pay a couple thousand dollars. Nike encouraged Michael to wear the shoes and payed the fees for Michael to continue wearing them.
This shoe embodies everything that sneakers and sneaker culture is about, style, boldness, courage, and loyalty. The Jordan 1 OG Chicago is a must have for any sneaker enthusiast!
